Wisconsin Prosecutor Won’t Charge 16 Accused Of Voter Fraud, Report Says



TOPLINE Sixteen people who voted in the 2020 presidential election after listing a UPS Store as their permanent voting address weren't trying to commit voter fraud, La Crosse County District Attorney Tim Greunke told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, leaving just a handful of outstanding voter fraud claims from the 2020 election.

The DA told the newspaper all 16 people appeared to list their primary mailing address as their voting address, though the state requires using a home address for voter registration purposes.

All of them were otherwise properly registered to vote and were able to prove they live in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Greunke said.

At least one of the 16 is homeless, according to Greunke, but most of the group consists of retirees who frequently vacation and use the UPS Store to forward their mail.

The DA's decision ends the investigation into the 16 cases of potential voter fraud, which are among 41 instances of possible voter fraud the state has identified in elections since August.

Former President Donald Trump and his supporters have claimed widespread voter fraud led to Biden winning the state, but there is no evidence to back up that accusation. A recount after the election last year confirmed Biden's win in Wisconsin, and post-election lawsuits making fraud claims have been repeatedly thrown out. But that did not stop Wisconsin's Republican legislators from passing a set of bills to tighten restrictions on absentee voting, which Trump said was rife with fraud. Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat, said he will veto any bills that make it more difficult to vote.
